Nationals place Simontacchi on DL

07/21/2007 - Washington, D.C. (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Washington Nationals placed pitcher Jason Simontacchi on the 15-day disabled list Friday with right elbow tendinitis.

The move is retroactive to July 16.

Smontacchi's last start came on July 15 against Florida, when he allowed five runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked four, fanned four and allowed a pair of home runs in absorbing the loss.

The right-hander is 6-7 with a 6.37 ERA in 13 starts for Washington this season.

The Nationals are expected to recall right-handed pitcher Chris Booker from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.
